The bocce ball tournament is one of the most popular events at OIT, with over 70 participants this year. The competitors come from different departments, and can be a student or a full-time employee. Everyone is welcome to participate. Beginning in June, and lasting until August, employees will play a series of games to see who will emerge as the champion. During this time, everyone will have a chance to meet new people and make new friends. We hope that the team building and unification of OIT are hastened through this event. Let’s not forget, this is the best place to work!
The dust is finally settling. For the last few months, the IT building has been undergoing a humongous construction project. This was due to the steady growth of the organization. During the process, many employees were inconvenienced and had to move spaces and work around temporary closures of rooms in the building. To show our appreciation and gratitude for our employees’ patience during this time we threw a party which included lunch; lots of games, like volleyball and horseshoes; and a chance to socialize with friends and coworkers. Everyone had a great time celebrating together.
On Tuesday, May 17th, OIT had its first town hall meeting. The meeting was held so that all of OIT could learn about current issues together and have the opportunity to ask their managers questions that would be pertinent to the organization.
The topic of this first town hall meeting were to discuss the results of the employee engagement survey that had recently been conducted. Overall the responses to the survey were positive, and many employees feel positively about working here.
Following the presentation there was an opportunity for any employee to ask any question. The questions ranged from what to put in the coke machine, to how career development works. It was a wonderful meeting, with great benefits.
It’s Saint Patrick’s Day!
We all know the traditions associated with this holiday. Shamrocks, green, and even looking for a pot of gold. There are a lot of ways to make this day special.
But what better way to celebrate than with a potato bar? To celebrate this holiday, we had a lot of food, fun, and friends to celebrate with. Thank you to everyone that made this a success!
On Friday, October 23rd, the fabled basketball challenge occurred. This is a chance for the students to challenge the skills of the full-time employees here at OIT. Six teams rose to the occasion. In the midst of the Utah sun, the teams battled. For those who attended, everyone can attest to the skill and athleticism of each player. However, only one managed to beat the full-timers.
The student teams were: Nothin’ but Ethernet; Big MACS; iWin; Forgot To Order It, but We Need It Now; We Would Like Hawaiian and Pepperoni Pizza; and Let’s Get Fiscal.
The team, Nothin’ but Ethernet, was victorious over the full-timers. The only team that managed to topple the champions of last year showed the hope of the rising generation. Each point was a battle. The students worked hard, and were rewarded with pizza.
Good job to all of the teams and players!
