Recently, many of the employees at OIT gathered together for an FHE at the ITB. It was a nice evening, and a lot of fun to boot. The event started at 5:30, with a little time to get settled and eat a picnic dinner. After dinner, everyone joined together to start the family home evening. It was a nice lesson that was perfect for everyone of all ages. After the lesson everyone had fun playing games. For the young children, there were plenty of power wheels to race around in. For people a little older, we had plenty of lawn games as well. After a pleasant evening with friends and colleagues, everyone went home with fun, new memories.
It is a good day when you get tacos. That’s why so many people were happy to attend our Cinco de Mayo fiesta! We had fun games, lots of food, and some tasty treats to finish the meal on a high note. It was a great way to enjoy the warm weather, and to connect with new friends. We had a few lawn games like bean bag toss, ladder toss, or horseshoes if anyone wanted to try their hand at them. Whatever you were in the mood for, you could find it at the fiesta.
I love pancake parties. Almost everyone has memories of waking up as a child, excited to eat a heaping plate of Mom’s homemade pancakes. Maybe it was chocolate chip, blueberry, or even red velvet. Whatever the variation was, they were sure to quickly disappear. We decided that a pancake party would be a great way to celebrate February (who needs chocolate anyway?) and show our appreciation for the wonderful employees that work here. We made sure there were many delicious pancakes for our employees to enjoy. It was a time to bond over great tasting food. While it wasn’t pancake day, that was on the 28th, it was still a fun celebration!
A cool wind blew over the court. It was a Halloween like many others. Most people were waiting to go to evening festivities. But there was one thing that made this day special. The annual basketball tournament.
The numbers for this year’s tournament were smaller than normal, but talent was not in short supply. This year two student teams faced off for the right to play the full-timers. It was a hard fought battle, but in the end only one team moved on. The victors advanced to play against the full timers. It was a best two out of three. Though there were times when it looked like either team could take the title, in the end the students triumphed 2-0. With this, the students claimed the title, and the right to a pizza party. Congratulations to the winning team, and see you all next year!
Every great football game starts with a great tailgate party. This year we started celebrating BYU’s homecoming game with our first office tailgate! We grilled polish dogs and shared some football trivia. Even though it was a little chilly, many employees braved the weather to play volleyball, corn hole, and horseshoes. Of course, the best part was going to watch the game afterward. It was a close game, but we managed to come out on top during double overtime. Go Cougs!
